The EVMS ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency Program is accredited to accept two residents per year. The program seeks individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, professionalism, resilience, leadership, and the strong work ethic required for a career in vascular surgery.
Applicants with a sincere interest in the program are encouraged to participate in vascular surgery electives and visit the department to maximize interaction with faculty and current trainees.
Application Process
The residency participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All applicants must submit their applications through ERAS; paper applications will not be accepted.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis beginning in mid-September upon receipt of all required materials

A completed application includes all ERAS documents as well as:
- Medical School Dean's Letter (MSPE)
- Medical School Transcripts
- Three Letters of Recommendation
- USMLE Step 1 score (Step 2 preferred) or COMLEX scores
- Personal Statement
International Medical Graduates
International applicants must:
- Be eligible for a J-1 visa
- Have prior U.S. clinical experience
Applicants selected for an interview will be notified via the email address provided in their ERAS application.
Interview Process
Selected applicants will participate in in-person, one-on-one interviews with three faculty members, and the Program Director.
Virtual interviews will not be offered for the 2026–2027 application cycle.
Following the interview sessions, applicants will have the opportunity to:
- Meet current residents during lunch
- Participate in a guided campus tour
A reception will be held in downtown Norfolk on the evening before each interview day, providing applicants an opportunity to meet current trainees in an informal setting.
