³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Premier Graduate Admissions fosters relationships with other institutions to recruit prospective graduate students to ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ programs. Our goal is to attract premier undergraduates from other institutions into graduate pathways that guarantee admission, shorten the time to degree completion, and provide students with an exceptional ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ experience.
Where Do I Start?
Here’s how to build robust graduate pathways for high-performing students nearing the end of their undergraduate experience at institutions outside of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ. The Graduate School can support your efforts and suggests the following measures to initiate and sustain fruitful articulation relationships.
- Identify external undergraduate programs with few options for premier students to continue their graduate education.
- Consider your relationships with other faculty or other programs whom you trust to produce capable undergraduates.
- Collaborate with the Graduate School for a data-driven approach to identifying areas where undergraduates may be underserved as they seek graduate education.
- Consider how in-person or online programs will enable opportunities for partnership with a wide variety of institutions.
- Contact the Graduate School to discuss your plans and seek assistance.
- Identify leadership at other institutions who can discuss undergraduate to graduate pathways that offer their students new options.
- The Graduate School can provide email templates for first contact and advice on facilitating first interactions.
- Discuss the benefits of your program and the professional, research, and scholastic opportunities it offers.
- Review the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Articulation Template and MOU Example.
- Consider which options may be appropriate for your program, the undergraduate partner, and the prospective students.
- Develop your own Memorandum of Understanding to outline the admission requirements, guidelines and procedures, and marketing and advertising strategies used by both institutions.
- Consult with the Graduate School about how to diminish barriers to participation and facilitate best practices.
- Finalize the agreement with the Dean of your college.
- Partner with Graduate School and the Communications Office to build initial marketing assets—website, flyers and brochures, promotional information for students—that outline the opportunity and encourage initial engagement.
- Maintain communication with the person of contact at the partner institution.
- Consider a visit to the institution to advertise the program and maintain key relationships.
- Contact Advisors at the Graduate School to move interested students into the program through regular communication and admission/registration.
- Partner with Graduate Admissions to build a simple admissions form to collect basic new student information.
- Make any necessary changes to the Graduate Catalog to add the program(s).
- Provide a one-page Annual Report to the Graduate School to outline progress and seek additional consultation.
